Recently Oprah Winfrey has been trending on social media and not for reasons one would expect.
At the 2018 Golden Globes she was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille award, which is given to notable celebrities who’ve contributed exceptional work to the entertainment industry. The award is prestigious and Oprah just became the first African American woman to receive the honor.
However, that’s not exactly what everyone is talking about.
At the Golden Globes, host Seth Meyers said:
“Oprah, while I have you, in 2011 I told some jokes about our current president at the White House Correspondents Dinner — jokes about how he was unqualified to be president — and some have said that night convinced him to run. So, if that’s true, I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president. You do not have what it takes.”
Later in the night, when accepting the award, Oprah made a very moving and inspiring speech in which she talked about being a woman and a person of color. Never did she mention running for president, nor having interest in politics at all, but that’s the narrative that the rest of the country is writing for her.
With Meyers’ monologue fresh in their minds, coupled with an amazing speech from Ms. Winfrey herself, people on social media took this as their chance to weigh in on the idea.

Oprah 2020 is all the rage, but the only one who hasn’t shared their take on the idea is Oprah.
There have been many interviews in the past where Winfrey has said she will never run for office, claiming it’s not her “thing.”
However, it’s been three days since the most recent discussions from people urging her to run for office and she hasn’t shut the rumors down.
Maybe she’s busy, maybe she thinks this is all a joke that will blow over, but based on the amount of people on social media who not only support her but also think this is actually happening, it’s time we hear it straight from the source.
It’s simple, really. Personal PR 101: Manage or be managed.
So, Ms. Winfrey, what’s it gonna be?
